"The Last Blast" Premieres at the Kino Ideal Aarau, Switzerland May 7th

February 5, 2008 – Bern, Switzerland. "The Last Blast" a Swiss production starring Heinz Hoenig (Das Boot), Rab Reilly (American Cousins), and newcomer Mimie LaGrande will premiere at the Kino Ideal in Aarau, May 7th. Shot on location in USA, England, Switzerland, Scotland, Italy, and France the film is about Helenka, a young Swiss punk girl living on the edge of her own nightmare. Her boyfriend cheats on her, her stepfather hates her and her mother overdoses on drugs. She has little faith in herself and seeks the only remaining refuge in her life, Eddie, her estranged father living in Arizona.

When she arrives, Eddie decides to take her along on crazy motorbike trip from Tucson, through the searing landscape of Arizona, California and north to the Burning Man Festival in Nevada. It's a step back in time and an opportunity to get reacquainted. But they soon realize how different they are. Helenka has been raised on a diet of hardcore punk, the toughest of realities and an attitude to boot. Eddie is an easy-going hog-riding hippie and riding his bike keeps the spirit of the sixties alive. On the trip they are joined by the craziest of them all, Grips, an old friend of Eddie's.

The bikes used in this story are vintage relics of the past. Eddie rides a Rainbow Harley Davidson 1974 Shovelhead, a bike that is considered a sign of peace and love thoughout much of the world. Its unique choppy "potato-potato" sound is the result of the 450 "V" engine design and its dual fire ignition system. The exhaust note is basically a throaty growling sound with some popping.

Grips' bike is a 1973 Norton 750cc Combat Commando, the last twin piston-engine motorcycle produced by the company. The Combat delivers 65 bhp at 6500 rpm with a 10 to 1 compression ratio. This machine too has it own distinct exhaust bark. These two vintage bikes become supporting characters in this story giving depth and dimension to the traveling scenes. And along with the music they also provide uplifting expectations that Freedom, Love, and Hope are just around the next bend.

Other cast members include Nick Shane, Nina Iseli, Carl Sentance, Joshua C. McCardle, Marie Omlin, Michel Geisbrecht, Walt Michael, Michael Wallach, Andy Easterwood, and 'Crevelly' Bob St. Pierre as "Spirit of the Sixties."

The Kino Ideal is located at Casinostrasse 13, Aarau, Switzerland. Cast and crew will be available for photos and interviews before and after the premiere screening at 8 PM.

What A Great Blast!

...we had at the Burning Man... and what a blast people had watching our movie on a huge screen (over 50 ft. height) and hear the sound with an absolutely crystal clear linearay system- totally clear and totally real. The fantastically positive feedback we've got from the audience after the show and by email has been overwhelming and encourages us to continue the way we think is right - and that's to leave Hollyweird and the industry where they are and for us to go underground and create a true cult phenomenon.

At the moment we're finishing the last colour corrections and dolby mixings but we're just about there. When is the movie coming out? We've been asked this question many times and the answer is "Soon - real soon". When that moment finally comes we will let you all know how we're gonna do it and we know you'll gonna agree that the Last Blast has been worth waiting for.

The Last Blast At The Burning Man

August 2007 So four years after this bunch of rag-bag punks, hippies, bikers and freaks first conveyed in London at the Camden market to discuss the nucleus of the "Last Blast" it is finally here. It's been a tough journey and one serious learning curve for us all but we think you'll agree well worth it. Maybe, it would have been easier to kiss some corporate Hollywood ass and play the game how they would have wanted to us to play it. But that is not what we wanted to do and we knew that we would have finished up with a sanitized, glossy, boring and nicely packaged movie.

Instead the "Last Blast" is the perfect example of a "guerilla" like cultfilm, based on our own rules but set to meet our very high standards. Beautifully shot in the UK, Switzerland, Italy, France and the USA we are taking it to the Burning Man Festival where we started out shooting and which is set in a dried up riverbed deep in the Nevada desert. Our world premier in. a unique but inspiring place!

One which sits perfectly with the anarchic, in depth, emotional and ambitious psyche of the "Last Blast."
